Purpose

The purpose of this site is to provide an area where interested parties can exchange expert knowledge and best practice on waste crime: how to tackle it, how to make enforcement work and what measures waste producers can take to make sure their business is compliant.

Through being an internet-based forum, access is available to registered users from all over the United Kingdom and from wide range of involved organisations - as many areas suffer from similar waste crimes, this community provides a place for users to discuss common issues and solutions.

As part of BREW (Business Resource Efficiency and Waste) programme, this forum is funded by DEFRA (via landfill tax receipts) to support its duty to incentivise businesses to reduce the amount of their waste going to landfill and to provide advice on other methods of treatment and disposal. It has been set up by, and is being administered by, the Environment Agency.

As a user, you can ask questions to any of the participating stakeholders and share information on any topic within the waste sector. We have invested in providing this service so that you are able to fully understand the dynamics of waste management and to make your time at work easier.

If you have any queries about using this site, please email them to info@wastematters.org.uk.
